A LITTLE BIT COUNTRY, A LITTLE BIT ROCK AND ROLL

Pete Charles, singer songwriter has been performing professionally since the age of 15. He knows and plays many styles of music: rock, jazz, blues, bluegrass, reggae, folk, country, swing and classical. He has an expanding list of accomplishments to his credit. Early in his career he signed with RCA as a member of Eliza Gilkyson’s band, toured in the U.S., Canada and Europe, sang the National Anthem for the San Francisco Giants (even the Canadian Anthem in French when they played the Expos!), won KEEN Radio’s “male vocalist of the year”, performed in various institutions including prisons for “Bread and Roses” – one of the most memorable, he points out, was the gig at San Quentin for the “Lifer’s Organization”. The other was performing his original song with his daughter's band, the "Dead Winter Carpenters" at the Fillmore in San Francisco. He is a proud recipient of the Justin Boot Co. “Standard of the West Award”. He produced and performed on the Judds’ first professional studio recording (Early Sessions-1978). He earned his degree in music from Cal Berkeley. Go Bears!  Most recently (2023) his original music is in the PBS documentary "A Song for Cesar".
